Bohemia, NY – On November [date], 2012, Quorn Foods, Inc. releases a statement on ways to enjoy a Thanksgiving with meatless meals, in response to a Seattle Times article by Michele Kayal on a turkey-free Thanksgiving feast.

According to the Seattle Times article, “Vegetarians have long known a Thanksgiving secret the rest of us are reluctant to admit — it’s all about the side dishes.” The article mentions that after you have had you helping of turkey and gravy, what you really go back for seconds for is the stuffing, sweet potatoes, and of course more pie. According to New York Times food columnist Mark Bittman, “Absence of turkey can be a very positive thing. Most people have roughly 360 dinners a year that have ‘absence of turkey.’ We eat it on Thanksgiving because we’re supposed to.”

The article raises the question of “Without turkey is it still Thanksgiving?” According to the article you should celebrate Thanksgiving as the holiday it is and focus your recipes and creativity towards vegetables and grains. The article also mentions that there are many different meatless meals to choose from, and that turkey is the only meat food you associate with Thanksgiving.

Quorn Foods Inc. knows that a turkey-free Thanksgiving could still be a delicious feast, and offers ways to achieve it. “Quorn offers a variety of meat substitutes, including our delicious Turk’y Roast with red wine mushroom sauce,” says Quorn representative David Wilson. “As for healthy vegetarian side dishes to go along with a meat substitute, our Quorn layered stuffed cabbage casserole is an easy and healthy recipe to please the palate.”

Quorn launched nationally in the US in 2002. Unlike other vegetarian food companies, Quorn uses mycoprotein: a naturally occurring, healthy form of protein that replicates the taste and texture of meat while being significantly lower in saturated fats and calories than meat products. Quorn offers a wide range of products including ready to serve meals, food for your barbecue, breaded meat substitutes, snacks and components to make your own meals from scratch. The wonderful taste of Quorntm meatless meals provides the taste of the foods you love without sacrificing nutrition.

Bohemia, NY –On [date], 2012, Quorn Foods, Inc. applauds the city of Los Angeles following a Los Angeles Times article about the city choosing easy vegetarian meals one day of the week, dubbed “Meatless Monday.”

According to the Los Angeles Times article, “In a unanimous 12-0 vote, the council approved a resolution Friday endorsing the ‘Meatless Monday’ campaign and asking residents to make a personal pledge to ditch meat for one day a week.” The article states that Los Angeles is the largest city to endorse the international “Meatless Monday” campaign that was put into action to reduce the consumption of meat due to environmental and health reasons.

The article states, “According to the nonprofit campaign, which was started in 2003 in conjunction with the Johns Hopkins’ Bloomberg School of Public Health, cutting meat from your diet can reduce the risk [of] cancer, heart disease, diabetes and obesity.” The article states the importance of Los Angeles getting on board due to the fact that more than half of Los Angeles’ residents are overweight.

Quorn Foods Inc. knows it is not easy choosing an easy vegetarian meal, and applauds the city of Los Angeles for getting on board with “Meatless Mondays.” “There are so many health benefits in reducing the amount of meat you consume in your diet and it is nice to see a big city like L.A. taking positive steps in that direction,” says Quorn representative David Wilson. “For those consumers who are meat lovers but still would like to partake in ‘Meatless Monday’, Quorn has a full line of easy and ready to serve meat alternatives that replicate the taste and texture of meat so well that you won’t be able to notice the difference. In addition, many people who live a flexitarian lifestyle –
in which vegetarian meals are regularly eaten but meat is eaten on occasion –can enjoy the benefits of Quorn products.”

Quorn launched nationally in the US in 2002. Unlike other vegetarian food companies, Quorn uses mycoprotein: a naturally occurring, healthy form of protein that replicates the taste and texture of meat while being significantly lower in saturated fats and calories than meat substitutes.
Bohemia, NY –On [date], 2012, Quorn Foods, Inc. releases a statement in response to an Examiner article by Denise Reynolds about ways vegetarians live longer than meat-eaters.

According to the Examiner article, “A very large international study has found that vegetarians live longer than meat-eaters.” The article states that the Adventist Health Study has tracked tens of thousands of people since the 50’s and concluded that limiting your meat intake can help prevent life shortening diseases. The article mentioned that vegetarian men and women are averaging a life span of 83-85 years old, between 6 and 9 years longer than non-vegetarians.

Some areas the article suggests vegetarians are at a lower risk of include obesity, diabetes, heart disease and cancer. According to the article, “Those who eat vegetarian foods, such as fruits, vegetables, nuts, legumes, and whole grains have fewer risk factors for heart disease, the number one killer of both men and women in the United States.” The article even states that a vegetarian lifestyle may protect you from cancer due to the high amount of antioxidants in the healthy food consumed by vegetarians.

Quorn Foods Inc. was pleased to learn of the positive results found in the study. “It is wonderful news to hear of the long-term health benefits of being a vegetarian,” says Quorn representative David Wilson. “For those who love to eat meat and are worried about their health benefits, Quorn offers a delicious meat alternative that has an ability to replicate the taste and texture of meat exceptionally well while benefiting your health. Quorn’s flavorful products can be used in your favorite recipes to create great tasting meals. Our products, while healthy, don’t compromise taste and we’re certain that our savory meals will leave you hungry for more.”

Quorn launched nationally in the US in 2002. Unlike other vegetarian food companies, Quorn uses mycoprotein: a naturally occurring, healthy form of protein that replicates the taste and texture of meat while being significantly lower in saturated fats and calories than meat substitutes.
With meat consumption down 12 percent from 2007, Quorn Foods, Inc. offers a response to the rise of meat eaters going meatless.

Bohemia, NY – On November 13 Quorn Foods, Inc. offers a response to an article published by Columbus Alive describing a new trend of meat eaters opting for the occasional vegetarian meal.

According to the Columbus Alive, “With meat consumption in the United States forecasted to be down 12 percent this year from 2007, you can’t simply point to vegetarians and vegans. Meatless dining has branched out to meat eaters.”

The article continues to describe how people who typically eat meat often go for the vegetarian option simply because they find them to be more creative and tastier.

“Here at Quorn, we love this article because we recognize that it isn’t just vegetarians who enjoy vegetarian food,” said Quorn Representative David Wilson. “I know plenty of people who eat beef on Sunday and Quorn on Monday. We feel that everybody who really wants to enjoy a food lover’s diet should try to mix things up with going meatless for the night. It’s healthier and it really breaks up the monotony. And what better way to do it than trying spaghetti and Quorn’s meatless meatballs? Even the most ardent carnivore would be impressed by the delicious taste of Quorn’s meat alternative products.”

Quorn launched nationally in the US in 2002. Unlike other vegetarian food companies, Quorn uses mycoprotein: a naturally occurring, healthy form of protein that replicates the taste and texture of meat while being significantly lower in saturated fats and calories than meat substitutes.

In response to a Portland, OR School offering a daily vegetarian option, Quorn offers a response.

Bohemia, NY – On November 12, Quorn Foods, Inc. releases a statement in response to a report published by Oregon Live which states that the Centennial School District of Portland, Oregon will now be offering their students a healthy, vegetarian option each day.

According to the article published on Oregon Live, The Centennial School District decided to redevelop their school lunch program in response to new federal guidelines mandating healthier school lunches. However, the article explains that where the school truly excels is that they are not only meeting the letter of the guidelines, but going the extra mile by giving each student the choice to have a vegetarian meal.

“This isn’t about just serving (peanut butter and jelly) or cheese sandwiches and calling it vegetarian,” said Julie Mack, who oversees the program.

The article reports that the school is working hard to make sure that the meals aren’t just healthy, but that they also taste great as well, demonstrating to a new generation of students that just because something is healthy doesn’t mean it has to taste bad.

“We all know many people who have tried to make kids eat healthier, but failed because they didn’t like the taste,” said David Wilson , Quorn representative. “That’s why initiatives like the one in Portland are so important. Good habits are best learned when they’re young , so it’s critically important to expose kids to healthy food choices before their bad habits are set in stone. We laud The Centennial School District because we know how difficult it can be to convince kids to try something new. So, we would suggest that people who would like to emulate this great initiative should check out our collection of vegetarian recipes. Just because you’re eating vegetarian doesn’t mean you have to miss out on your favorite foods or sacrifice taste.”

Quorn launched nationally in the US in 2002. Unlike other vegetarian food companies, Quorn uses mycoprotein: a naturally occurring, healthy form of protein that replicates the taste and texture of meat while being significantly lower in saturated fats and calories than meat products.

Quorn™ Foods is proud to introduce its first all-vegan product. The new Vegan Burger is egg-free, but still loaded with flavor and nutrition just like all of your favorite Quorn™ products. The burger is part of Quorn™ Foods’ effort to reduce its use of eggs in order to prevent cruelty to laying hens. The animal protection group, Compassion Over Killing, praises the brand’s decision as “compassionate and socially responsible.” The Vegan Burger is now available in over 1,000 stores across the U.S., including Giant, Shaw’s, Stop & Shop, and Whole Foods Market. Try it today on a whole grain bun with Sharwood’s Mango Chutney and fresh tomato!

* Please note that there was a typo in the nutritionals on the packs. There is 0mg of cholesterol in this product. This has been corrected on new packs.
