PURPOSE OF THIS PRIVACY NOTICE

This Privacy Notice provides information on how we collect and process your Personal Data. It is important that you read this Privacy Notice together with any other privacy notice we may provide on specific occasions when we are collecting or processing Personal Data about you so that you are fully aware of how and why we are using your Personal Data. This notice supplements other notices and is not intended to override them.

2. THE DATA WE COLLECT ABOUT YOU

Personal Data generally does not include data where the identity has been removed (anonymous data or deidentified data).

We currently, or have in the prior 12 months, collect, use, store and transfer different kinds of Personal Data about you, including ‘Special Category’ Personal Data, as follows:

  • Identity Data includes name and title.
  • Contact Data includes address, email address and telephone numbers.
  • Technical Data includes internet protocol (IP) address, time zone setting and location, traffic data, weblogs, operating system and browser type, and other technology on the devices you use to access our website.
  • Usage Data includes information about how you use and how your browser interacts with our website.
  • Marketing and Communications Data includes your preferences in receiving marketing and communications.
  • Job Application Data includes information about you including your religion, ethnicity, and sexual orientation and your work experience and qualifications.

In limited circumstances, as explained below we may process special or sensitive Personal Data. This includes data revealing:

  • racial or ethnic origin;
  • religious or philosophical beliefs;
  • an individual’s health; and
  • an individual’s sexual orientation.

These categories of Personal Data are considered special or sensitive and may receive special protection under applicable laws. We will treat special or sensitive Personal Data with particular care and in line with our legal obligations and we will only use such data where there is a specific and legitimate purpose for doing so.

We may also collect, use and disclose Aggregated Data or Deidentified Data such as statistical or demographic data, including about browsing actions and patterns, for business purposes, including system administration. Aggregated Data and Deidentified Data may be derived from your Personal Data but is generally not considered Personal Data in law as this data does not directly or indirectly reveal your identity. We will not reidentify the Deidentified Data.

3. HOW IS YOUR PERSONAL DATA COLLECTED?

We use different methods to collect Personal Data from and about you including through:

  • Direct interactions. You may give us your data by filling in forms, by corresponding with us by post, phone or email, communicating with us through social media channels that we operate from time to time or attending virtual meetings or events with us. This includes personal data you provide when you:
    • request marketing to be sent to you;
    • provide us with your details at an event;
    • enter a competition, promotion or survey;
    • use any interactive features on our website;
    • contact us with queries or complaints or give us some feedback;
    • represent your company as a key contact, as a supplier and/or customer to Quorn Foods; or
    • choose to take part in research.
  • Job Portals / websites and recruitment agencies – We may collect and process Personal Data you provide to us to help us to consider your application for employment, or an apprenticeship or internship.
  • Automated technologies or interactions. As you interact with our website, we may automatically collect Usage Data and Technical Data about your equipment, browsing actions and patterns and general internet usage. We collect this by using cookies and other similar technologies, as described in greater detail below.

4. HOW WE USE YOUR PERSONAL DATA

We will only use your personal data when the law allows us to. Most commonly, we will use your personal data in the following circumstances:

  • Where we need to enter into or perform a contract with you.
  • Where it is necessary for our business interests (or those of a third party).
  • Where we need to comply with a legal or regulatory obligation.
  • In some situations, we may rely on consent to process your personal data.

PROMOTIONAL OFFERS FROM US

We may use your Personal Data to form a view on what we think you may want or need, or what may be of interest to you. This is how we decide which products and offers may be relevant for you (we call this marketing). You will receive marketing communications from us only if you have requested information from us or if you provided us with your details for marketing purposes and you have not opted out of receiving that marketing.

Depending on where you are located, we will obtain your consent before we disclose your Personal Data to any third party for marketing purposes.

In accordance with applicable law, we may use cookies, pixels, web beacons or other tracking technologies (collectively, “cookies”) on our websites. A cookie is a small amount of data that is transferred to visitors’ web browsers and/or stored on your device as you are browsing; they are processed and stored by your web browser.

We treat opt-out preference signals (Do Not Track signals may also be considered opt-out preference signals under applicable laws) as valid requests to opt-out of targeted advertising or the sale of your Personal Data under privacy laws. Ordinarily, your opt-out preference signal is sufficient for us to honor your request, but in some instances, we may request additional information to help facilitate your request for offline sales or sharing. We will not use, disclose or retain this additional information for any purpose other than to facilitate the request.

CHANGE OF PURPOSE

We will only use your Personal Data for the purposes for which we collected it, unless we reasonably consider that we need to use it for another reason and that reason is compatible with the original purpose. If you wish to get an explanation as to how the processing for the new purpose is compatible with the original purpose, please contact us.

Please note that we may process or disclose your Personal Data without your knowledge or consent, in compliance with the above rules, where this is required or permitted by law. This includes exchanging information with other companies and organisations for the purposes of fraud protection.

5. DISCLOSURES OF YOUR PERSONAL DATA

We may disclose your Personal Data to the following parties:

  • Other companies within the Quorn Foods Group, including Quorn Foods Inc. in the US, Quorn Foods Sweden AB in Sweden, Quorn Smart Life GmbH in Germany;
  • Service providers to us including those who provide customer services, marketing services, IT and system administration services;
  • Professional advisers including lawyers, bankers, auditors and insurers who provide banking, legal, insurance and accounting services;
  • HMRC, regulators, law enforcement, and other authorities who require reporting of processing activities in certain circumstances;
  • Other third parties with your consent, such as third party marketers; and
  • Third parties to whom we may choose to sell, transfer, or merge parts of our business or our assets. Alternatively, we may seek to acquire other businesses or merge with them. If a change happens to our business, then the new owners may use your Personal Data in the same way as set out in this Privacy Notice.

6. COUNTRIES YOUR PERSONAL DATA WILL BE SENT TO AND WHY

All Personal Data we collect from you or about you will be hosted and processed in the UK or the EEA. If you have contacted us from US and Switzerland your Personal Data may also be hosted and processed in those countries.

However, as Quorn Foods operates around the world, your Personal Data may be transferred internationally. By submitting your Personal Data to us you agree to the transfer, storage, and processing of your Personal Data in a country other than your country of residence.

7. DATA SECURITY

We have put in place commercially reasonable security measures to prevent your Personal Data from being accidentally lost, used or accessed in an unauthorised way, altered or disclosed. However, no method of transmission over the Internet or method of electronic storage is absolutely secure, so we unfortunately cannot guarantee absolute security.

We have put in place procedures to deal with any suspected Personal Data breach and will notify you and any applicable regulator of a Personal Data breach where this is appropriate or required by law. If you have reason to believe that your interaction with us is no longer secure, please contact us immediately.

8. DATA RETENTION

We will only retain your Personal Data for as long as necessary to fulfil the purposes we collected it for, including for the purposes of satisfying any legal, accounting, or reporting requirements, or as otherwise required or permitted by applicable law.

To determine the appropriate retention period for Personal Data, we consider the amount, nature, and sensitivity of the Personal Data, the potential risk of harm from unauthorized use or disclosure of your Personal Data, the purposes for which we process your Personal Data and whether we can achieve those purposes through other means, and the applicable legal requirements.

It is important that the Personal Data we hold about you is accurate and current. Please keep us informed if your Personal Data changes during your relationship with us.

9. CHILDREN

This website is not intended for or directed at children under the age of 13, or other relevant age of minority where you are located. In addition, we do not knowingly collect Personal Data from children under the age of 13, nor do we sell the Personal Data of children under the age of 16. If you learn that your child has provided us with Personal Data without your consent and he/she is under the age of 13, please alert us at the contact information provided above. We will take prompt steps to remove the Personal Data from our systems.

10. YOUR RIGHTS & CHOICE

Depending on where you are located, you may have rights under data protection laws in relation to your Personal Data. These may include:

  • Request access to your Personal Data (commonly known as a "data subject access request"). This enables you to receive a copy of the Personal Data we hold about you and to check that we are lawfully processing it.
  • Request correction of your Personal Data. This enables you to have any incomplete or inaccurate data we hold about you corrected, though we may need to verify the accuracy of the new data you provide to us.
  • Request erasure of your Personal Data. This enables you to ask us to delete or remove Personal Data.
  • Request restriction of processing your sensitive or special Personal Data. This enables you to ask us to restrict the processing of your sensitive or special Personal Data.
  • Opt-out of profiling. You may have the right to opt out of the processing of your Personal Data for profiling in furtherance of decisions that produce legal or similarly significant effects concerning you.
  • Opt-out of targeted advertising, sharing or sales of your Personal Data. As described in the Cookies section above, with your consent, we process Personal Data to deliver ads targeted to your interests on other companies’ websites and mobile apps. You can adjust your preferences at any time using our Cookie Preference Manager.
  • Request transfer or data portability of your Personal Data to you or to a third party.
  • Right to withdraw consent where we are relying on consent to process your Personal Data. However, this will not affect the lawfulness of any processing carried out before you withdraw your consent. If you withdraw your consent, we may not be able to provide certain products or services to you. We will advise you if this is the case at the time you withdraw your consent.

We do not discriminate against individuals who exercise any of their rights described in this Privacy Policy, nor do we retaliate against individuals who exercise these rights.

You will not have to pay a fee to access your Personal Data (or to exercise the other rights). However, we may charge a reasonable fee if your request is clearly unfounded, repetitive or excessive. Alternatively, we may refuse to comply with your request in these circumstances.

Depending on where you are located, you may exercise your privacy rights through an authorized agent. If we receive your request from an authorized agent, we may ask for evidence that you have provided such agent with authority to submit the request to exercise rights on your behalf. If you are an authorized agent seeking to make a request, please contact us as stated above.

We may need to prove your identity prior to honoring your privacy right request. We will verify your identity by asking you to provide Personal Data related to your recent interactions with us. This is a security measure to ensure that Personal Data is not disclosed to any person who has no right to receive it. Thereafter, we will process your request and inform you of any decisions we have made about your request.

We will respond to all legitimate requests within the time period prescribed by applicable law. Occasionally it could take us longer than a month if your request is particularly complex or you have made a number of requests. In this case, we will notify you and keep you updated to the extent required by applicable law. You may appeal a denial of your privacy right requests by contacting us as described above.

California Shine the Light

If you are a California resident, California law permits you to request certain details about how your Personal Information is disclosed to third parties for third parties’ direct marketing purposes. We do not disclose your Personal Information to third parties for their direct marketing purposes unless you elect that we do so.
